This March and April, the TAMU School of Performance, Visualization, & Fine Arts and the Institute for Applied Creativity will be facilitating an interdisciplinary laboratory for creating original work at the intersection of live performance and extended reality (XR). This opportunity is open to students excited about integrating new technology into their practice and exchanging knowledge with peers from other TAMU departments.
This lab is extra-curricular and will meet once per week for 2-3 hours. Each session will include technical demonstrations and collaborative build time. The lab will culminate in the performance of a 10-minute piece of original content. Attendance at all 6 meetings is required.
Mandatory Laboratory Meetings - March 4th, 18th, 26th | April 1st, 8th, 15th
To give perspective participants an idea of the kind of work the lab will be creating, this February, PVFA has invited guest artists to perform an original, hybrid VR musical, Non-Player Character, for the TAMU community.
In addition, interested students are invited to attend an introductory workshop to learn how these artists have integrated this new technology into their backgrounds as live performers.
Join us for to get a sneak peek of the kind of work the XR & Live Performance Lab will be creating! No RSVP required!
